Green Electricity Exchange and Market Integration between EU and Marocco

The Kingdom of Morocco is resolutely committed to the expansion and production of green electricity. Thanks to the excellent conditions for generating wind and solar power as well as the geographical proximity to Europe, the trade of renewable energy between Morocco and Europe is promising.

A symposium, organized by the German Embassy in Rabat, GIZ, and PAREMA, served as a platform for dialogue and the exchange of best practices in the areas of green electricity and cross-border market integration between Morocco and the EU. Notable achievements include the power connection between Spain and Morocco. The German Ambassador, Robert Dölger, praised Morocco's proactive policy in promoting renewable energies and highlighted the successful cooperation since 2012.

Besides regulatory issues, the event also provided expert insights and discussions on advancements in renewable energy development, innovations in storage, and Morocco's potential as a producer of green energy.
